For the first time since its inception Royal College Past Teachers’ Association organized a sil campaign for its members on the 5th September 2015 at Vajiraramaya. The organizing subcommittee was headed by Mrs. Chandrika Gomas. Other active members of the subcommittee included Mr.H. M. Dayaratne , Mrs. Ramya Dharmawardana, Mrs. Srimathi Weerasuriya, Mr. Bandula Gunawardana, Mrs. Sujatha Dharmasiri, Mrs. Nora Jayawardana, Mrs Irene Seneviratne & Mr. Ranjith Senanayake. About 30 members of the RCPTA observed sil on this day.
Sil Campaign commenced at 6.30 am. Ven. Thirikunamale Ananda Thero got the members to observe ata sil and delivered the anusasana. Rest of the program included dhamma sermons by Ven. Meegoda Sukitha Thero, Mulkirigala Supasanna Thero, Ven. Kamburugamuwe Mahanaga Thero, Ven Kurunegala Varana Dhamma Thero and Weligepola Seelawansa Thero. These valuable anusasanas immensely benefited all those who participated in the sil campaign.
A dhamma discussion and a question and answer session was also held by Ven. Vajiraramaye Gnanaseeha thero along with Mr. C.H. de Tissera. Many dhamma problems faced by our members were up for discussion and solutions were provided.
The heel danaya and the daval danaya were provided for everyone present by the RCPTA with generous donations from our very own members.
A very special word of thanks should go out to Mrs. Chandrika Gomas’ husband Mr. Gunasekara who was a tower of strength to our members.
May the merits gained be bestowed on all those who were involved in this endeavor even in a small way.
All those present said it was very successful and they expected this to be held annually.
