RCPTA – One Day Outing
About 150 members of the RCPTA attended this event. This is the most attended annual event of the RCPTA. The party arrived at the resort around 9.30 am. They were welcomed by the ORUAE member Mr. Prasanna Wanigasekare and the resort staff. The guests were ushered to the venue by a group of Kandyan dancers. The proceedings began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp. This was followed by a speech from Mr. Prasanna Wanigasekare who said that it was a great opportunity for the Old Royalists of the UAE to show their gratitude to their beloved teachers. Mr Wanigasekara’s son read out a message from the ORUAE members. RCPTA President Capt. M.N.Dharmaratne then spoke. He said that the RCPTA was very thankful for the ORUAE for the magnanimous gesture for treating their teachers the way they have done for the past five years consecutively.
Arrangements have been made for a lot of games which as senior citizens enjoyed to the fullest. Valuable prizes were offered by the ORUAE for the winners. A sumptuous lunch was laid out which the RCPTA members enjoyed. There was a music group in attendance and there was lots of singing and dancing by our members. The media was represented by Hiru TV who interviewed most of our members to get their views on the event and also about their views about the retired life as teachers and interests.
It must not be forgotten the way Prasanna’s whole family helped in organizing the event. Prasanna’s wife Anoma, their two daughters and the son were fully involved in organizing the games, taking photographs and arranging the distribution of very useful gifts offered by the ORUAE for the teachers.
Some members enjoyed a dip in the refreshing stream that was flowing nearby.
The RCPTA offered some simple gifts to Prasanna and his family to show their gratitude for all the trouble taken coming all the way from Dubai and organizing this event which our members enjoyed to the fullest.
Thank you members of the ORUAE and may your organization grow from strength to strength.
