Annual Sil Program of the RCPTA

The Royal College Past Teachers’ Association held its annual sil campaign on the 17th September2016. Many members participated in the program held at the Vajiraramaya Temple in Bambalapitiya. Ven. Thirikunamale Ananda Thero delivered the Ata Sil and the Anusasana.

This was followed by the Heel Danaya. Mr Ranjith Senanayake offered the morning breakfast for those who attended the Sil Program.

The next sermon was delivered by Meegoda Sukitha thero. There were four more sermons delivered by Ven. Mulkirigala Supasanna, Ven. Kamburugamuwe Mahanaga, Ven. Kurunegala Varanadhamma, and Ven. Waligepola Seelawansha . All the sermons were very informative.

There were two Buddhist discussions with lay persons participating. From 1.00pm to 2.00pm Mr. Sudath Kumara and Mr. C.H. De Tissera participated. They discussed the Pattichcha Sumuppadaya and Buddhism as a daily practice and Aryastangika Margaya. The time allocated was not enough for both of them to discuss these topics fully.

Prof. Praneeth Abeysundara was the other speaker. He touched on many aspects and it was a very informative talk which lasted one hour.

The RCPTA arranged the mid-day meal for all those present.

It was a very successful program and the RCPTA is thankful for the organizers headed by Mrs. Chandrika Gomas for a task well done. Special mention should be made of Mr. Lional Gunasekara husband of our program coordinator Chandrika, being a past teacher of Ananda College for spending his valuable time the whole day to see that the program worked out very well. Thank you Mr. Gunasekara.
